Dr. Ntakiyiruta Georges is the first Rwandan cleft surgeon and he has treated many patients with cleft lip and palate. Since he started working as Smile Train Surgeon, he has cleared almost all the backlog of adults with cleft deformity.

For the past three years he is only treating children. BCSH is seeking to partner with Smile Train, a New York based international organization whose primary focus is to provide free treatment for cleft lip and cleft palate worldwide. As such, BCSH will also provide 100% free cleft surgery to children born with cleft lip and cleft palate.

BCSH also provides comprehensive cleft care. This means that the management of cleft conditions encompass nutrition, surgery and speech therapy.
